Impromptu birthday photo shoot

My Sunday photo shoot had to cancel (no worries, we'll do them next weekend), so I figured it would be a perfect time to take my kids out and try to get a good birthday picture for them. Bubby will be 2 and Kiki will be 5 in August (yeah, baby, one birthday party! ha). I like to make my own invitations using a picture, so I think this may be the winner... (I think!)

HAPPY MONDAY!!!!!!!!!!!

Every Thursday night for the past few weeks, our little town has hosted some live music on the square. The only problem is the heat! It doesn't start until 7:00pm though, so it could've been worse.

Last night was Cody Dickinson from the North Mississippi Allstars. Love these guys! Blues-infused rock and roll with a side of jam! Too bad the whole band wasn't there last night, but it was still fun. Bubby was shaking his little bottom!


Then we met up with the kid's cousins E (girl) and C (boy). I'm sure I've mentioned it before, but Kiki adores E! They are only 8 months apart and are best friends. They will be in the same grade in school and they do gymnastics together. It's so cute watching them hold hands running all around the gym! C is only 7 months younger than Kiki, but he doesn't participate in the silly girl activities. He's way too busy being a cowboy!



Um, seriously, the eyes on these two! We're going to be fighting the boys off with sticks!


We all finally scrounged up enough money to do "a little" face painting. Yeah, a little. These ladies weren't playing around! If you want to be a tiger, you'll be a tiger, alright!


E wanted to be a pink butterfly


And Kiki chose the blue bird.


She was so disappointed when we had to wash it off last night! She wanted all of the kids at school to see it this morning. So we told her we'd hire these ladies for her birthday party in August and let her take a picture of herself to school next week. Thankfully that stalled the tears for the night.


As the night got darker, so did my pictures. I finally gave up and after the umpteenth blurry one and bumping up my ISO way too high for sharp pictures. Guess I need to invest in a flash!



Did I mention smacking the boys with a bat in a few years.... ugh, did I just say a few? I mean MANY years? We're going to have to lock up this butterfly and blue bird (Kiki's doing her modeling pose again)!

Seriously, she just doesn't take a bad picture.

I got pretty lucky to have the most gorgeous model to practice on! I can assure you she did not get this photogenic gift from me!

Adorable!

Adorable is the only way I know how to describe these two! They really reminded me of my own kids. Actually, this little girl, K, will be starting kindergarten this year at the same school as my K. I hope they become good friends!

Anyway, I had a great time shooting these two, but WOW it's getting hot outside. We're going to have to do 7:00am shoots if it stays this bad!
