Landscape

I take so many portraits that I often forget to stop and take a picture of the world around me... unless there's a kid standing in the front.

I've been meaning to take a picture of this tree for a while. I pass it on the way to my husband's family's house. I finally stopped in the in middle of the road and took this last weekend. I love this tree! I need to stop and take a picture every season!

This was also just a pull-over-on-the-side-of-the-road moment. Oh I love a good sunset!

History

Baby Ryder is now 6 months old and boy, how time flies!!! My first official photo shoot was a maternity shoot with Ryder's mom. Actually, we did two shoots because we wanted to include Ryder's dad too and he couldn't make it the first time. See them here and here. One of the maternity pictures also got me published in the Capture Memphis book in 2010. I also had the pleasure of shooting his newborn pictures!

In other words, we've got a lot of history! And we've come a long way, baby.

So here's the 4th installment of Baby Ryder and his most adorable photos yet! He's changed so much. Next time we do pictures, I probably won't be able to stop the kid long enough to snap a photo!

We had many tongue-hanging-out photo options!

Catching up

I am determined to get caught up on my blog this week so I am going to start with a few pictures of my own little ones.

Bubby is now 2 and a half years old. He's so funny sometimes, yet, he's right in the middle of those "terrible twos". There are 3 things that he just absolutely loves right now: 1.) Lighting McQueen and Thomas the Train (excuse me, Thomas the "Train Engine", as he will remind you), 2.) Playing music - if a song is on he will grab his guitar and play along, but his new thing is to go get pots & spoons and play drums (such lovely sounds :\ ), and 3.) His Momma (but I'm not really complaining, I do secretly love that he still wants me to hold him all of the time). I love that he will not go to bed without kissing Momma, Daddy, & Kiki before he lays down.

He also loves this fedora... he wears it a lot... and usually wears it sideways like a dork.

Kiki is now 5 and a half and she's just the sweetest kid ever... when she's not telling me I'm mean for making her clean her room, or brush her teeth, or get dressed, or stop fighting with her brother. She loves to be my big helper and thankfully doesn't mind me taking a gazillion pictures of her! The girl is a natural in front of the camera! I still can't believe she's half-way through with Kindergarten and she just lost her first tooth. She's getting way too big, way too fast! I love everything about her.

Learning

So I'm constantly trying to learn new tools for photography! Lately since it's been cold outside and my photoshoots have been occasional, I've been spending my free time editing. I've even been going back and editing old shoots with new tricks. It finally started to get warmer and I can't wait to try out some new things!

...especially with my new camera that arrived yesterday! SQUEAL!

So here's a before and after from an old shoot. This is the originally edited picture:

Here's my new edit. It's so much more warm and rich! Love it!

I wish...

I wish I had a huge field in my backyard where I could take clients and and there would be nothing in sight for miles except for trees, weeds, and flowers. And maybe a lake or two.

For now I'll just pull over on the side of the road occasionally and hope nobody minds!

I just love this picture of Kiki. She's so silly sometimes!

Seriously, is this picture below the cutest face you've ever seen? He drives me bananas sometimes. He'll be all excited to take pictures, get all dressed up, and then when we get out there he gives me this face. No smiling! He's still a doll though, right?

Another Itty Bitty Baby

I'm having so much fun photographing all these babies lately!! I also learned something new during this shoot... turning on a little electric heater helps babies get sleepy & snuggly.

No offense to you bald-headed babies (I had two of them myself... well, they were peach-fuzzed, but it was so blonde they looked bald!), but there's nothing cuter than a head full of dark hair on a little baby boy. He looks like a little man! I think it's funny when you have to pause a photo shoot to brush a newborn's hair. Adorable.

Is this owl hat adorable? I love it when moms bring their own accessories! Etsy rocks, by the way!
