Our Saturday morning

I'm desperately trying to learn how to get out of the auto mode on this camera. Practice makes perfect, so we had a little impromptu photo session this morning.

Figuring out lighting is hard. I feel like a lot of my pictures are too dark. I'll get there!

This picture cracked me up because she's already bugging him! She looks so happy to be poking him with a little piece of grass.

  1. Do you shoot in RAW? It'll allow a lot of exposure correction after the fact.

Also, experiment with your metering modes. Try spot metering as an experiment or center weighted for instance.

I just ordered a calibrator (cheap one) for my screen, so that what I see is closer to what I might print. That might be interesting too.

Your photos don't look dark to me, but you may have lightened them up already. Pretty sharp!

  2. I love them! I do so much editing these days that I would say that my end result is 50% photography and 50% artistic editing -- color fixing, altering, cropping, etc...

  3. I think they are great! I love the one close up of K's face...the expression is adorable. And the close up of V's face is jus too sweet.
